Gulls fall 15-1 and then wiln 2-1

ST. CLOUD -- The Brainerd Mighty Gulls rebounded after a disastrous first game Tuesday to pull off a split with the St. Cloud River Bats at Dick Putz Field.

The Gulls lost the first game 15-1 and won the second game 2-1.

Two runs in the third inning of the second game were enough for pitchers Mike Osequera and Al Bromer. Osequera went five innings, gave up one run on five hits and struck out five. Bromer recorded the save, pitching two innings of no-hit ball.

Brainerd finished with only two hits -- singles by Mike McCoy and Sam Steidl. The River Bats committed three errors.

The River Bats combined 13 hits, including a home run by third baseman Ryan Klocksien, with three Gulls errors in the first game.

Luke Appert recorded two of the Gulls' five hits. Joe Lima had a double and Trevor Fredrickson and Sam Steidl each had base hits.
