20 years ago (1980)

Capri Plastics, a Brainerd firm only seven years old, has begun construction of a new manufacturing plant in Southeast Brainerd. With the new 21,000 square foot building the firm is also branching into a new area, the manufacturing of solar heating systems, according to Bruce Isebrand, owner of the firm.

30 years ago (1970)

Seventeen-year-old Miss Karen Kay Amundson was crowned Miss Brainerd 1970 last night. Miss Amundson is the daughter of Mrs. Lois Amundson, 1101 10th Ave. and is a 1970 graduate of the Brainerd High School.

40 years ago (1960)

Miss Earlene Nerby, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nerby of Merrifield was installed as Honored Queen of Bethel 67, Job's Daughters, of Crosby on Sunday, June 19 in the Masonic Hall.

60 years ago (1940)

Miss Edith Carlson, graduate of Washington High School with the Class of 1940, was acclaimed "Miss Lake Region, 1940" at the Beauty Contest which featured Friday evening's, Sportsmen Show.

80 years ago (1920)

A big crowd gathered at the Community Picnic at Lum Park early in the morning before rain pattered down. When the moisture came down in the afternoon refuge was taken in the pavilion and dancing held full sway.

100 years ago (1900)

Charlie Aspholm has traded his wheel for a pony. He now goes spinning along on a two wheeled gig at a 2:40 gate, with a pretty girl under his arm.
