Brainerd routs Park Rapids in doubleheader

Tom Fairbanks went a combined 3-for-6 with 5 RBIs, a two-run home run and scored twice as Brainerd swept Park Rapids in a doubleheader 10-2 and11-4 Friday night at Adamson Field.

In Brainerd's 10-2 Game One win, Fairbanks went 1-for-2 with 3 RBIs while Trevor Howard finished with two doubles and scored twice.

Brett Jenkins picked up the opening game win, throwing seven innings, and helping his cause with by going 2-for-3, scoring twice and driving in two.

Brainerd collected nine runs on 11 hits in the second game, highlighted by Fairbanks' two-run home run. Jamie Cook was a perfect 2-for-2 with a double and drove in four in the second game.

Joel Martin pitched 3.3 innings of relief after Brainerd starter Seth Helland was hit in the arm during the fourth inning forcing him to the dugout. Martin, who pitched seven innings Thursday, picked up his second win in as many days.
