Brainerd airport receives grant
The Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport is among five airports in northeast Minnesota that have been awarded more than $2.2 million in grants from the Federal Aviation Administration.
Rep. Jim Oberstar announced Thursday that the funds will come from the FAA's Airport Improvement Program.
The Brainerd airport will receive $805,802 to improve the aircraft rescue and firefighting building and to rehabilitate runway aprons, the parking lot and the terminal building.
Book sale donations accepted at Brainerd Public Library
Donations of books, CDs, audio books and DVDs are currently being accepted by the Friends of the Brainerd Public Library for the summer used book sale on Aug. 20-22.
Textbooks, encyclopedias and Reader's Digest will not be accepted due to space limitations.
All book sale proceeds benefit Brainerd Public Library. Donations may be dropped off during regular library hours.
