Myrtle J. Davies, age 100, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village. Mrs. Davies was born June 9, 1903 in Brainerd to John and Anna (Paulson) Hanson. She married John Davies. Following his death in 1951, she worked for several years at Alderman and Maghan store as a saleslady, O'Brien's Department Store as the manager of the lunch counter, and at Charlie's Cafe in the East Brainerd Mall as cashier. Myrtle lived in North Star Apartments for 33 years.
Survivors include: three children, Marion (Joseph) Marolt of Brainerd, Robert Davies, and Phyllis Lynch, both of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Joseph, Michael and John Marolt; Steven, Jeffrey and Linda Davies; John, Sandra, Pamela, and Mark Lynch; and James' wife Becki and children from a previous marriage, Michael and Sean, 13 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son John, son James, daughter-in-law Donna (Koskinen), son-in-law Francis Lynch, sister Josephine (Albers), brothers Arthur and George Hanson, half-sister Minnie Paulson, and half-brothers Melvin "Dick" and Charles Hall.
Funeral Services: 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd, with the Rev. Rory Swenson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, the hour before services.
