Celebration activities for the Annual Johnny Inkslinger Festival in Brainerd were under way yesterday, with events heavily scheduled for Friday through Sunday. They range all the way from an Ice Cream Social to a mammoth parade and a rodeo.

The Neighborhood Youth Corps has job openings in this area for youth 15-21 who are still in high school and meet the guidelines. Under this program youth are able to work 26 hours a week for a period of 9 weeks at $1.60 per hour.

Votes are continuing to pour into The Dispatch in its "Friendliest, Most Courteous" employee contest. Two-hundred eleven Brainerd employees now have been nominated, and many have received numerous votes for the honor.

Sam Tollefson in the Shop League, and Pete Denis in the A League, replaced Walt Deming, last week's leader in both loops in the batting averages for the week. Both have complied averages of 500.

A Connecticut woman played an April Fool trick on her husband by telling him she was going to sue for divorce, when she had no intention of doing it. Some women don't know the difference between a joke and a disappointment.

Jess: "I told that old beau of yours that you were married."
Tess: "Did you? Did he seem surprised?"
Jess: "Yes, indeed! He said, 'How on earth did that happen?'"
