GREEN BAY, Wis. - Mike Kvasnicka got the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers off to a good start with an RBI single in the first inning that scored fellow University of Minnesota Gopher Justin Gominsky.
But Brainerd was unable to put together anything offensively for the game's remainder, losing 4-1 to the Green Bay Bullfrogs Thursday.
After Kvasnicka's single in the first the Lunkers did not collect another hit until the ninth inning when T.J. Berge singled off of Bullfrog closer Dixon Anderson for Brainerd's only other hit of the ball game.
Green Bay starter Joel Delorit kept the Brainerd hitters off-balance through six innings, striking out five to lower his ERA to 1.97 and pick up his third win.
A trio of Bullfrog relievers allowed just one base runner the final three Lunker at-bats with Anderson coming into slam the door and pick up his seventh save of the season.
Zach Kenyon was the losing pitcher for Brainerd tossing six innings with nine strikeouts while allowing five hits and just one earned run as Green Bay took advantage of a Lunker error in the fifth to surmount a four run rally in the inning.
The loss sends Brainerd's record back to .500 at 13-13 while it looks to even the two game series with a win Friday.
