Crow Wing County Administrator Peter Herlofsky Jr. may get a 3 percent salary increase next year.
The Crow Wing County Board discussed the administrator's salary Tuesday. The board conducted an extensive evaluation of Herlofsky's 2001 performance in April.
The county board will act on the salary increase at its next meeting. Herlofsky currently earns $90,000. If the board approves the 3 percent raise, his salary would increase by $2,700 in 2003.
Herlofsky is the county's first administrator. He joined the county in September 2000 and then earned $80,000. By Jan. 1, 2001, he earned $85,000.

Discussed badges for county employees.
Dave Schuldheisz, the county's veteran service and emergency management director, projects that it will cost the county about $13,000 to create the badges, including $5,000 for a dual-sided printer. Schuldheisz said other entities, including the Brainerd Police Department, have expressed interest in having the county create badges for its departments.
The board recommended the county research the cost to have a vendor create the badges.
Approved a zoning change for 63 acres in Ideal Township. Charles Blekre requested the change from green space to agricultural.
Approved another zoning change for Judith Dingman Dwire of Ideal Township. A 2.9-acre parcel will be rezoned from agricultural to rural residential.
Rezoned 1.5 acres of land in Deerwood Township from agricultural to residential as requested by Duane and Donna Swanson.
Approved the 2002 updated water plan.
Approved submitting a grant application to participate in the Healthy Communities Partnership.
Approved an interagency agreement with the Lakes Area Drug Investigative Division to coordinate law enforcement efforts in the enforcement and prosecution of drug offenders in the county.
LADID members include Crow Wing County and the cities of Baxter, Breezy Point, Brainerd, Crosby, Crosslake, Cuyuna, Deerwood, Nisswa and Pequot Lakes.
Approved sending a letter to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency expressing the county's concerns of the revisions to the solid waste management rules for demolition and transfer stations.
Heard that the out-of-home placement expenditures are about $179,400 under budget.
Approved contracts for the Highway Department 49ers and the Sheriff's Department supervisors. In both contracts, employees received a 3 percent salary schedule increase. Both contracts expire Dec. 31, 2004.
Approved an off-sale liquor license for Charles J. Larson. Larson will own and operate The Green Roof Store in Fairfield Township.
Discussed establishing a business subsidy policy.
