Feature honors go to Treichler again

BARROWS -- John Treichler picked up his second consecutive feature win in the Wissota Street Stock division Saturday as 111 cars competed at North Central Motor Speedway.

Heat winner Shawn Niemeyer opened an early lead over polesitter Wayne Wooden and Treichler as the green dropped for the field of 18. At the halfway point, Treichler took over as Shawn Wageman moved from 12th to second passing Niemeyer.

A caution slowed the seven lap dash with several cars battling tire problems. On the restart, Treichler and Wageman were at each other's doors as they spread out from the field. Treichler held on as he took the checkered, followed by Wageman, Niemeyer, Wooden, and Donny Thomsen. Treichler is the current division points leader.

The Wissota Super Stocks continued the seven lap non-stop action in their feature as polesitter Dustin Nelson took a slight lead over the three and four-wide battles for second and third. Don Eischens, the current national points leader, worked the high side to take the lead just before the caution flag.

The restart allowed Dan Yaunick to step up and challenge Eischens during the closing laps, but Eischens held on to edge out a victory over Yaunick. Justin Alyward finished third with current division points leader Rick Sweet and Tim Johnson rounding out the top five.

The Midwest Modifieds lasted twice as long without a caution as George Mattson opened up a sizable lead at the drop of the green with Chuck Chesler in pursuit.

The battle for second heated up when Erick Thiesse worked the high side to lock up with Chesler. The battle was cut short as Chesler pitted with engine trouble, allowing Thiesse to move into second and chase Mattson.

Mattson looked to have the win in sight, but a caution with two laps to go tightened the field, giving Thiesse, Trevor Stewart, and Chuck Olson a shot at Mattson. On the restart, it was a dash up front as Chuck Olson, who started ninth, rocketed past Stewart, Thiesse and Mattson to grab the win. Mattson, Stewart, Craig Larson and Thiesse rounded out the top five, respectively. Olson is the current points leader in the division.

Kevin Jones led flag-to-flag to take the win in the Pure Stock A feature. Al Schmidt moved up from 11th to finish second as current points leader Mark Olson placed third.

Chad Jillson and Bill Jones battled flag-to-flag for first in the Pure Stock B feature with Jones coming out on top. Jillson, Kelly Wroolie, Kevin Baron and Greg Spaid rounded out the single-file finish.

Special racing action starts at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday as the Wissota Late Models come to town to battle in the Wissota Challenge. Wissota Street Stocks and Midwest Modifieds will also be on the program. It was also announced that NCMS will run a makeup race program with all classes competing on Monday, July 3.
