Jenna Ruzich, Baxter, competing for Nisswa NW Biathlon, won the women's division in the 5-kilometer Minnesota Summer Cup No. 1 biathlon race Saturday at Mt. Itasca in Coleraine.
Her time was 40:58 with eight misses.
Ruzich was leading second-place finisher Addie Byrne of Mt. Itasca through the prone stages with only one miss per five shots in each stage on the 45-mm target on the 50-meter range.
Coming in for the first standing stage on the 115-mm target, Byrne cleaned all five and Ruzich missed three.
Coming into the range for the last stage, Ruzich had three misses to Byrnes' two.
Ruzich had one-half of her first penalty loop done by the time Byrne got to the loop. Coming out of the penalty loop on the last 1km course, Ruzich pulled ahead and finished 52 seconds ahead for the win.
In the men's division, Raleigh Goessling of Esko, who trains with Nisswa, finished in 32:10 with 12 misses.
