The recently constructed Edgewater Club will have a grand opening June 25, according to Vernon Gustafson, manager. The club is on the west shore of Pelican Lake, 17 miles north of Brainerd on Highway 4. Dining and dancing will be featured.
80 years ago (1929)
Forty dollars was taken from a drawer in the Brainerd Clinic after the lock on the door had been broken, police reported. The work is believed to be that of drug addicts as the lock on the door of the Beise Clinic was also tampered with, though unsuccessfully.
100 years ago (1909)
Co. K, Third Regiment, of the Minnesota National Guard passed through Brainerd yesterday on its way home from the state encampment at Lake City. They look as though they could fight if occasion required.
