Last weekend I took my kids to Lum Park beach. I was horrified to find trash, empty pop bottles, metal beer tops, etc., all over the beach. ... Who is responsible to clean up the beach? Isn't that part of what the lifeguards are paid to do, to keep the beach safe? It wasn't as if they didn't see it. There was trash all over. My family will not be back there this summer. I'd like to know who's responsible for beach cleanup.
The CIA is a so-called intelligence agency capable of knowing who's parked in our driveway by spying on us from space. They intercept phone calls, e-mail, and can listen to conversations in houses from the air. But where's the "intelligence" part of the CIA that cannot find Osama Bin Laden, a missing 727 or Saddam Hussein? No wonder we have not won the "war on drugs" in South America or stopped terrorism.
They don't care
Brainerd council members (Bob) Olson, (Jim) Dehen and (Mary) Koep have argued that we should allow a superstore to locate in the lakes area because we cannot deny any business from locating here. Yet, they are more than willing to limit what they call "adult use," as well as prevent our local bars from being open an hour later. Seems as though they really don't care about their beloved "free market" and are more than willing to put limits on and outright deny certain businesses from locating in our community that they personally do not like.
