Bob Gross, superintendent of the Brainerd School District, will receive a national award for his role in improving school media services. He will be the only administrator in the country to be honored by the American Association of School Librarians.

Lefty Gary Borg tossed a two-hitter and designated hitter Greg Gorron wrote a sudden ending to its American Legion victory against Aitkin. Gorron's long homerun forced the 10-run rule in an 11-1 win.

Brainerd's Braves, scoring 22 runs in the first inning, included seven homeruns, two triples, five doubles, ten singles and 18 walks in their 36-1 five-inning win over Jenkins. No one can remember a more lopsided Great Central League victory.

When Legionville, the school patrol camp, closes this week a total of 324 boys will have completed the week's program of training and recreation, sponsored by the American Legion. Members of the three camps were chosen from throughout Minnesota.

The first Vitaphone talking picture in Crosby can be seen at the People's Theatre, where they will present Delores Costello in "The Glad Rag Doll." The Vitaphone equipment has been installed and the first tests have been very satisfactory.

As a result of a disturbance on Laurel Street last night a Finn, who has only been in America a short time, is in the city lock-up. Officer Hurley got the Finn only to the Ransford Hotel, where he collapsed. He took him the rest of the way on a handcart.
