The sixth annual Komen Brainerd Lakes Race for the Cure will be July 2 at Adamson Field in Brainerd.
Proceeds benefit the Brainerd Lakes Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation with up to 75 percent of net profits granted to education, screening and treatment programs in Cass and Crow Wing Counties. The remaining 25 percent funds the Komen Foundation's Research and Awards Program.
Events include a 5-K run, 5-K walk and 1-mile walk.
Those who can't or don't wish to participate physically, can enter as a Spirit Runner and receive the same race T-shirt and privileges so there's something for everyone.
Entry forms are available at many area businesses or online at www.brainerdlakesrace.org until Monday. Participants may receive race packets or pre-register from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. July 1 at the Community Action office, 213 S. Fifth St. in Brainerd. Pre-registration is $18 for adults and $12 for age 12 and younger. Race day registration, which begins at 7 a.m. July 2 at the race site, is $25 for adults and $15 for children.
The race and walks start at 8:30 a.m. Breast cancer survivors receive a special pink T-shirt and hat and have a group photo taken in front of the finish line at 8:20 a.m.
Additional fund-raising activities are planned this year.
