STAPLES -- 3M Staples and the 3M Greater Minnesota Community Relations Council recently donated $6,000 toward the purchase of robot kits for Central Lakes College.
CLC engineering and physics students, as well as participants at several engineering career exploration camps this summer, will use the robot kits.
The kits include everything to build remote-controlled, multifunctional devices. They cost $1,200 each and are reusable. Students work in teams of three to build, operate and take apart the robots.
CLC instructor Brian Kohn is coordinating "Camp E.T.," two engineering technology day camps at CLC for grades 10-12 (July 26-30) and grades 7-9 (Aug. 2-6) on the Brainerd campus of CLC. He also is instructing up to 15 Todd County youth in the CLC Upward Bound summer program July 12-14 at Bemidji State University.
