(Photos) Randy Hansen of Nisswa pulled in an 8-3 walleye using a Lindy Rig-Redtail combo in 18 feet of water on Whitefish Lake. Brad Johnson of Brainerd lured in this 8-15 walleye on a leech out of Gull Lake.
30 years ago (1980)
(Photo) Kathy Borgwarth, former Brainerd High School track standout, now at the University of Wisconsin, performed at the first All-Comers track meet of the summer. She won the 100 meter hurdles in 14.9 and the 100 meter dash in 13.8 seconds.
40 years ago (1970)
C.A. Ryan, Brainerd attorney, was one of 27 Minnesota lawyers honored last week by the state bar association. The honor was conferred in the form of a framed Senior Counselor award in recognition of more than 50 years of service to the profession.
60 years ago (1950)
Brainerd's YMCA summer swimming program will get underway at Lum Park on June 26. The YMCA has made arrangements to pick up children at the various grade schools at 1:30 p.m., and returning them to the schools at 4 p.m.
80 years ago (1930)
With their powerful Liberty motors droning and flying in formation, the 109th aero squadron, which participated in the season opening of Breezy Point Lodge, left Rosko airport. They said via radio they had chosen our Kathleen Quigley as squadron queen.
100 years ago (1910)
(Adv.) Whereas, the Angel of Death has entered the home of our esteemed brother, Dr. C.S. Reimstad, and caused the sad departure of his beloved wife; Resolved, we fellow members of the Sons of Norway, Sagatun Lodge 18, do express our deepest sympathy.
