Highway 210 construction moves along

From the Mississippi River to South Sixth Street/Business Highway 371, paving is completed and open to traffic. Motorists should be prepared for intermittent lane closures as crews complete permanent striping operations.

On Highway 210 between Southeast 13th Street/Crow Wing County Road 45 and the southbound leg of Highway 25, paving is to be completed and open to traffic by Friday, weather permitting. Motorists should be prepared for intermittent lane closures as crews complete permanent striping operations.

On the southbound leg of Highway 25 to east end of four-lane section milling and paving operations, including shoulder widening at the Lum Park entrance in northeast Brainerd, is anticipated to be completed by June 29. Motorists will encounter lane shifts and closures and should be prepared for sudden stops.

On Highway 210 at the Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport the grading work is complete at the entrance of the airport east of Brainerd. It is anticipated that the entrance and local roadway connections in this area will have a paved surface by Friday. Final paving operations will be completed in conjunction with the scheduled work from the end of the four-lane in Brainerd to Ironton beginning Monday.

Construction operations will be suspended the week of the Fourth of July. The prime contractor, Knife River Corp., is planning to complete all paving operations to enable opening Highway 210 to four lanes of traffic by June 29. Construction operations will be suspended at the end of the day on June 29 until recommencing work on July 9 to accommodate recreational traffic during the week of the Fourth of July holiday.

With the city of Brainerd utility repair project motorists are reminded that the city of Brainerd anticipates starting utility work on Highway 210 between South Eighth and 13th streets beginning July 9. This work will require a detour for both eastbound and westbound Highway 210 traffic. Work associated with Highway 210 will be completed in conjunction with the city's utility repair project. Minnesota Department of Transportation Project Supervisor Paul Koenig says that all work between the Mississippi River and the east end of the four lane in Brainerd is anticipated to be complete by mid-August, weather permitting. The final segment between Brainerd and Ironton is expected to be completed by Labor Day, weather permitting.
