A popular garage door feature in the lakes area has been the keypad entry.
But it may have more applications than first thought. If the garage door opener disappears with the car and a teen-age driver, garage entry is still available by punching in a keypad code access.
A nice side benefit to the keypad is that it can be set for a specific time period.
A plumber may use a code to enter the home for a repair. The code will expire after an allotted time period, replacing the need to leave a hidden key. The code options may also be handy for house and pet sitters.
Remote control garage door openers are also downsizing with a small device no larger than a key-chain bob, replacing bulkier models.
