The Granary Girls to perform in Little Falls' Concert in Park series

Posted: Thursday, June 22, 2000

LITTLE FALLS -- The Granary Girls will perform a free Concert in the Park at 4 p.m. Sunday in Little Falls' Maple Island Park.

The Granary Girls, a singing and songwriting duo featuring Patty Kakac and Jodi Ritter, play many different instruments and write and compose original music.

Kakac has been a professional folk musician for some time and Ritter decided to change a music hobby into the real thing about three years ago and has been performing with Kakac ever since.

Last year the pair received a grant that has helped them get their feet wet by offering Ritter the chance to study bass guitar with Joan Griffith in Minneapolis; Kakac used the grant to set up concerts and put together promotional materials for the Girls.

This year's Concerts in the Park series is presented by the Great River Arts Association and sponsored by the Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce and Bookin' It bookstore. The Little Falls Community High School French Club will sell refreshments. Bring a chair or blanket. In case of rain, all concerts will be moved to the Black & White Hamburger Shop.
