Alexis Orth, 10-year-old daughter of Rich and Chris Orth, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Minnesota Pageant on June 27-28 in Bloomington.
Her activities include JFK summer dance camp, reigning as the 2007 Miss Minnesota Junior Pre-Teen covergirl and basketball.
She enjoys involvement within the community, spending time with family and friends, singing, skating, swimming and participating the NAM pageant.
Her sponsors include Blue Water Wells, Rickard and Sons Concrete, Spike's Barber Shop and Northwoods Dock and Lift, Park Rapids.

Class of 1944 will meet at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Northwind Grille.
HART annual meeting
Heartland Animal Rescue Team will be hosting the annual meeting and election of board directors from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Northland Arboretum.
Social hour and election will be held from 7-8 p.m.
At 8 p.m., Kueper's Construction will be revealing the preliminary design for the new shelter with the annual meeting business and election results to follow.

Benefit for Daniel Holmgren planned
There will be a benefit for Daniel "Smiley" Holmgren from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. June 29 at the Iron Rail Saloon in Brainerd. There will be a raffle, live music, karaoke, food, beer and more.
Holmgren suffered an aneurysm and stroke in May. He was placed in a medically-induced coma with a small chance of survival. His condition recently improved dramatically. He is walking and talking but is paralyzed on the left side. He will need much more therapy and rehabilitation.
Proceeds from the benefit will help him with his medical bills and future care.

BHS class of 1983 reunion
The Brainerd High School class of 1983 will have its 25th reunion from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. Aug. 2. at Badabings.

Rummage sale planned
LAKE HUBERT - The Lake Hubert Community Grange will have a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 27-28 at Hwy. 371 north of Brainerd to Sportland Corner County Road 13 east two miles to Sunset Valley Road, 1/4 mile north on the left side. It's in an old schoolhouse.
