James H. Bedard, 60, of Brainerd, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Wednesday, June 20, 2007. He was born on Oct. 4, 1946, in Hibbing to George and Ruth Bedard.
He married Caren Crowther on Nov. 25, 1972.
Jim is survived by his wife, Caren; three sons, Benjamin (Marie), Samuel and Louis; mother, Ruth; brothers, Robert (Janet), Dennis (Rosie), John (Bonnie), Thomas (Anna); and sister, Jeanne.
He is preceded in death by his father, George.
Jim was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. As a member of the Brainerd Rotary Club for over 30 years, Jim had served as president and youth exchange officer. He was a member of the Brainerd Elks Lodge. Since his youth, Jim was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and served as a scoutmaster, district officer and council officer. He was also the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. Recently, Jim got his exercise as a founding member of the Brainerd Lakes Curling Club.
Services will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 23, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 p.m. at Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Boy Scouts of America or the American Cancer Society are preferred.
