EMILY - Law enforcement officers are investigating the shooting death of a man Wednesday afternoon at a residence on Little Bass Lake Road south of Emily.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department reported that officers were called to the residence, off Crow Wing County Road 36 in Fairfield Township in northeast Crow Wing County, at 1:56 p.m. after 911 received a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found one man dead, Crow Wing County Sheriff Todd Dahl said, and another man was arrested at the scene without incident. Dahl said it appeared the shooting took place outside the residence.

"We're investigating it as a homicide," Dahl said.
The sheriff's department did not release the names of the victim or suspect Wednesday. Sheriff's Capt. Neal Gaalswyk said the two men knew each other and that there was no further danger to the public. Dahl said investigators were trying to determine a motive for the shooting.
The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the sheriff's department in processing the crime scene. Gaalswyk said the BCA and sheriff's investigators would remain at the residence into Wednesday night.
The shooting took place at the only residence located on Little Bass Lake Road, a tree-lined dirt road that winds a short way onto property owned by Darrell and Lynette Buesgens, according to the Crow Wing County land atlas and plat book.
