Search hampered by high winds
CROSSLAKE -- High winds and large waves Monday hampered the search for a 28-year-old Andover woman presumed to have drowned on Lower Whitefish Lake.

EXTRA CREDIT
John Fraki, the son of Michael and Nadine Fraki of Baxter, plans to enroll at Concordia College, Moorhead, this fall. Fraki was involved in hockey, golf, Spanish Club and was a honor graduate at Brainerd High School.

Grass fire
The Brainerd Fire Department responded to a grass fire about 1:42 p.m. Sunday off of Crow Wing County Road 2, south of Brainerd.

Accidents
REMER -- Two people were injured in a single-vehicle accident Saturday on Highway 6, three miles north of Remer.

Woman presumed drowned after falling out of pontoon on Lower Whitefish Lake near Crosslake
A 28-year-old Andover woman is presumed to have drowned after falling from a moving pontoon boat Saturday on Lower Whitefish Lake, near Crosslake.

CORRECTION
In a Page 1A story in Sunday's Dispatch about Dru Sjodin's family, the story should have said Linda Walker, Sjodin's mother, said she could find forgiveness for the perpetrator who murdered her daughter. Walker did not address suspect Alphonso Rodriguez Jr. by name.

Pet of the week
Lindsey is a tiger-striped domestic short-hair female who is approximately 1 1/2 years old. Her owner was moving and couldn't take Lindsey with him. This pet and others are available for adoption at Heartland Animal Rescue Team.

COON RAPIDS -- Harvey G. Poissant, age 56, a resident of Coon Rapids, Minn., formerly of Little Falls, Minn., passed away Friday, June 18, 2004, at North Memorial Hospice in Brooklyn Center, Minn.

Roger J. Staples
DEERWOOD -- Roger James Staples, age 69, of Deerwood, passed away Friday, June 18, at his home. He was born November 25 in Slayton, Minn., to Vincent and Myrtle Staples.

Eleanor Norquist
Eleanor Norquist, age 81, resident of Brainerd, died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at her home. Arrangements are with Nelson-Doran Funeral Home in Brainerd.

Open Forum
As I sat on a chair in front of the All Veterans Memorial on the Court House lawn on June 14 and thought about the meaning of our flag, I was ashamed at the number of us who remember what it is about our flag that is so important to everyone.
