Picasso and Einstein

Central Lakes College opened its summer theater season this week with the Steve Martin comedy "Picasso at the Lapin Agile." It sounds like a gas for theater lovers, in that the play's premise assumes a chance (and comedic) meeting between Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein, just before they made their greatest respective contributions to modern art and science.

"Picasso" runs at 7:30 p.m. today-Saturday and Tuesday-June 30, 2 p.m. Sunday and July 1. Call 855-8199 or 800-933-0346 for ticket information.

Hillbilly in Town

Erik "Linus" Brandt, front man for the Urban Hillbilly Quartet, is coming to town Friday for a one-night stand at the Eclectic Caf in downtown Brainerd. Known for its eclectic flavor, the Twin Cities band has issued five CDs in recent years, winning a large following among the younger set. Linus plays guitar, accordion and other instruments featured in the band's original songs.

Show time is 9 p.m. but go early because seating is limited. Admission is free.
