As part of its fundraising efforts the Brainerd Warriors football team will be selling 40-pound bags of Diamond Crystal Water Softener Salt until June 25.
Players and the Brainerd Warrior Football Association will be selling two different types of salt: An extra course "Solar" salt and "Pellets" with softener care formula. Each bag is $6.

S-M's Johnson awarded
Gunner Johnson was named the Staples-Motley Cardinals baseball team's Most Valuable Player and Golden Arm at the team's season-ending banquet Wednesday.
Johnson earned All-Mid-State Conference honors helping S-M post a 20-8 overall record, 8-4 conference mark and an appearance in the Section 6-2A finals.
He finished the season 8-1 with 59 innings pitched, 81 strike outs, 29 walks, 39 hits, 18 earned runs and a 2.13 ERA.
Also earning all-conference were Jordan Riewer, Trevor Ness and Alex Jansson. all-conference honorable mention were Devin Becker and Anthony Jenkins.
Ness won the Golden Bat award. Sam Duberowski was most improved. Hardest worker went to Brandon Haglin. Trevor Smith won the Golden Glove and most enthusiastic while Joe Roline was given the Cardinal Pride award.
Seniors from this year's team were Ness, Becker, Roline, Jenkins and Peter Thorman.
BIR offers two for one
Race fans can view two events for the price of one this weekend at Brainerd International Speedway.
On the new 2.5-mile competition road course, the central Roadracing Association will feature motorcycle racing. A variety of classes will race Friday-Sunday.
On the drag strip, the third event of the seven-race Bracket Drag Racing Series will feature about 400 cars as they compete for series points and prize money.
Racing starts at 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday. Friday is an open Test & Tune day.
Daily admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children. On-site camping is available.
Soap Box Derby is back
The first Brainerd Lakes Downhill Drags Soap Box Derby race of the season will take place 11 a.m. June 27 at the Brainerd Area Civic Center parking lot.
Age categories are Class A (6 year olds), Class B (7-8), Class C (9-10) and Class D (11 and up).
Any child wishing to race one of the loaner cars may call the Brainerd Parks and Recreation Department at 828-2320 before Wednesday. Children will be assigned to a car at the race.
New racers must be at the Civic Center race track at 8:30 a.m. and take two practice runs off the starting gate. We want to make sure racers get the feel of the starting gate and can drive the car before race time. All races must be 6 or older.
All participants must be pre-registered and pre-paid by noon on Wednesday. There is a registration fee of $5 for each participant.
