Bill Sather flexed his muscles at the plate and the mound to help the Brainerd Legion baseball team sweep Nisswa Monday at Adamson Field.
Sather blasted a game-winning, three-run homer to lead Brainerd a 12-10 game two victory. Brainerd won game one 4-0.
The long ball highlighted an eight-run fifth inning that helped Brainerd rally from a 6-0 first inning deficit.
Brainerd scored four in the third and claimed a 12-9 lead in the fifth.
Sather picked up the win and Brett Kramer pitched one inning of relief for the save.
Jake Caughey was 1-3 with an RBI. Brandon Shaw had a hit and two RBIs. Trevor Howard was 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs and Ethan Branum added a hit for Brainerd.
Nisswa's Tyler Jensen and Bronson Shepherd each homered and Kyle Crocker added a double
Dan Bendzick started for Nisswa and allowed 10 earned runs on eight hits and four walks in 4 2-3 innings. Kyle Schaible relieved Bendzick and gave up Sather's homer to take the loss.
In the first game, Brainerd scored three unearned runs in the first inning giving Branum all he needed. Branum held Nisswa to three hits, struck out six and walked four.
Rob Veith went 2-for-2 with two runs and two stolen bases. Kramer hit a double and Caughey had Brainerd's other hit.
Trevor Thompson allowed three hits and three unearned runs and struck out four in the loss. Nick Rardin came in relief and allowed one hit, one walk and one earned run. He struck out two.
Crocker hit a double and Thompson and Schaible had singles.
