BARROWS - Street Stock driver Allen Gessell Jr. continued a hot streak at North Central Speedway by winning the feature race on the opening night of the Rumble in the Woods featuring the Wissota Late Model cars.
Gessell Jr. won the Street Stock class title at the Wissota 100 last September and has kept that win streak going this year. He currently is the points leader and has multiple wins at North Central this year.
The top three cars of Gessell Jr., Dan Severson, and Cory Rosen battled until a caution flag with three laps left. Coming out of the caution, Gessell Jr. was able to separate from the field and cruise to victory. He said track conditions were excellent and always enjoys running at North Central.
Street stock drivers Tim Johnson (1), Justin Jones (20), and David Goulet (11) roared into the corner Monday night at North Central Speedway. The street stocks kicked off the Rumble in the Woods , a two-day event that will end Tuesday night with late model and B-modified features.

The Late Model cars made their first appearance of the year at North Central with a two night event. Monday, the heats and a 12-lap dash were run. Pat Doar of New Richmond won the dash and will have his choice of position on the lead row for Tuesday's feature event. Mike Balcaen of Winnipeg, Manitoba finished second and John Kaanta of Elk Mound placed third.
Points leader Zach Johnson of Lowry was in Heat 2, but did not place in the top three spots. With the Wissota 100 being held at North Central Speedway again this year, fans got a chance to see a few of the top drivers in the Late Model class including Jeff Wildung, who is currently in second place in the national points standings, and Kyle Petterlin, who is currently in sevventh place. Petterlin won his heat to earn a spot in the 12-lap dash. The drivers will now compete in the Feature on Tuesday night along with the Midwest Modifieds and the Pure Stock class.
Sixteen drivers made the call in the Midwest Modified class. The drivers ran the same format as the Late Model with two heat races and a 12-lap dash. Mike Kuhlman won the first heat and Dan Ebert won heat two. In the dash, Shane Sabraski won to earn a spot on the front row for Tuesday's feature event.
