Where is the Vox Pox Department of Education? Why don't you ever stick up for the school district when people are making their nasty comments? I see where your paper is biased.
Locked cemetery gates
On Sunday I went to Evergreen Cemetery to visit my father's grave site. I was surprised to find the gates locked. I entered through the main gate and paid my respects. However, having a cemetery closed on Father's Day is odd. I would think that it should be open on Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day etc. It is a matter of simply remembering those we loved and respect.
Reality checks
How humorous! I have never seen such scrambling in justifying their per diems as our local elected officials did in the Dispatch on June 13. The amounts were staggering and, in addition, don't forget your perk of medical insurance. Aren't these meetings part of your job and your annual salary? I would suggest that you all rethink the so-called per diem. Do a "reality check" and think of the people of Crow Wing County and how we would vote if it were up to us, "We the People."
New leadership needed
Low test scores, declining enrollment, strike payback and nepotism gone wild. Without new high school leadership the C-I School District will not recover.
More police not less
This town is getting that bad and I am thankful for the police and wish we had more. Do you ever check the Brainerd jail in custody list? There must be at least four DUIs a night, most occurring in the middle of the afternoon! Because of that fact and the way some in this town drive, I don't even drive down Washington with my 8-month-old baby anymore, I refuse. What about (those) who speed through our residential neighborhoods on their mini-motorcycles? As far as your comment goes, you are wrong, we need more cops, not less!
Get real
Get real ISD 181. You are proud you took 15 percent off administration? Fifteen percent off an already top-heavy organization is nothing. Do more. Cut more and bring back some classes for all types of students at the high school. Show those students you care.
