LITTLE FALLS - Everyone is welcome to check out the Little Falls Senior Center for fun, friends, food, volunteer opportunities and assistance in various matters. Some activities offered are card games, such as cribbage at 3 p.m. on Thursdays; Smear at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays; Bingo at 12:45 p.m. on Wednesdays; pool tournaments at 9 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday mornings; and the Bone Builders exercise class at 9:30 a.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Dances with live music by volunteers are held throughout the year. We recently just had a Father's Day celebration with live music by Walt Monson and Friends. It was a great time.
We'll have our Independence Day celebration at 3 p.m. July 3, with live music by Social Security Express. Dinner will be served at 5 p.m. Lutheran Social Services will provide a great meal for a donation of $3.25 for persons 60 year of age or older or $6.30 for guests under 60 years of age.
Our evening meals are served at 5 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays and lunches are served at 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Fridays. People are asked to make reservations by noon the previous day with site manger Cindy Lapos-Olson or Joan Siers at (320) 632-8200.
The Little Falls Senior Center also offers AARP Driver Safety courses and free blood pressure clinics, which are held the second Wednesday of each month at 10:30 a.m.
The Senior Law Project of St. Cloud Area Legal Services comes to the senior center with assistance with legal matters on the first and third Thursday mornings of each month by appointment only. For appointments, see me or call the senior center at (320) 632-8009 between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The fundraisers we hold include our Thursday morning donut sales; our pancake breakfasts held on the first Sunday of each month; our yearly anniversary celebrations in September; and raffles, garage sales, bake sales and craft sales. People of all ages are encouraged to attend. Volunteers and donations are always welcome and needed for the fundraisers.
To become a Little Falls Senior Center member please call or visit me at the senior center. Membership is $5 per year for persons 55 years or older. Having a membership allows you access to a newsletter (available for pick-up at the senior center's front desk), voting rights, right to hold office on the Little Falls Senior Center's Board of Directors and senior center activities.
No membership is required to enjoy Lutheran Social Services' meals program.
