Mahlum Hanson V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary members recently presented a new American flag to First Lutheran Church in Brainerd, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Miss Brainerd, Debra Nay, is back home today and looking forward to some rest after a fast-paced week at the Miss Minnesota Pageant in Austin last week.

Purchase of the old Post Office building and site by the City of Brainerd for development of a metered parking lot means that Brainerd at last will be beginning a program which has been found to be completely satisfactory in many other cities.

Brainerd and Crow Wing County began sending contributions to the National Rubber Salvage Campaign today under the supervision of the Salvage Committee of the Civil Defense Council.

The Echo stock farm is building a large new barn, size 36x130 feet and a silo, 16 by 40, with triple stave walls.

Valet: "Doctor, don't you find that master is growing terribly thin?"

Doctor: "No harm in that, friend. He was getting too fat. He will be much better in health when he is thinner."

Valet: (disappointed) "Very likely, only I shan't be able to wear his clothes."
