The fire danger level for today is moderate to high. Because of a mixture of higher temperatures, higher wind and lower humidity, fires can spread quickly, the DNR reported.
Recreational fires are allowed, but should be attended at all times with a water source nearby. A recreational fire is defined as a fire 3-feet high by 3-feet wide. Burning permits are only being issued to contractors.
For more information on burning permits or fire danger levels, call the DNR Forestry office at 828-2565.
