PEQUOT LAKES - Glen E. Andrews, age 81, of Pequot Lakes, passed away peacefully Friday, June 8, 2007, at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Brainerd.
He was born July 22, 1925, in Center Junction, Jones Co., Iowa, to Ora and Marjorie (Soper) Andrews. Glen was a World War II veteran, serving as a radioman 3c USN on the USS Le Hardy DE 20. He served July 14, 1943, to Aug. 4, 1946. He married Mabel Kephart Nov. 16, 1946, in Minneapolis. They met on his bus ride home from the service. To this union, four children, Faye, James, Dennis and Ruth were born. They were divorced in 1963. She died June 6, 1997.
He married Lois Thies Sauer Jan. 2, 1965, in Watertown, S.D. She died Oct. 4, 2003. Glen worked as parts and service manager for many years at Long Lake Ford Tractor, Long Lake, Minn., and later years at Pine River Auto Value Store. He was a lifetime member of both the Pequot Lakes American Legion Post No. 49 and Jenkins VFW Post No. 3839. He served for a time as chaplain at the American Legion.
He enjoyed many activities in his younger years including hunting, fishing, basketball, golf and playing pool and cards. He was on oxygen for the last several years of his life and this kept him close to home where he enjoyed watching the birds, TV, sports, poker and playing cards. His mind was sharp and was tough to beat watching his favorite show, Jeopardy.

He is survived by sons, James Andrews, of Pequot Lakes, Dennis (Linda) Andrews, of Rockford, Minn.; daughter, Ruth (Jerry) Potter, of Rockford, Minn.; stepson, Dennis Sauer, of Grand Marais, Minn.; sister, Dolores Townsend, of Marion, Ohio; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Kevin Johnson and Heidi Lokken.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Beuhl Jay; two sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ora Mae Plueger (Raymond), Ruth Ethel Rieken (Lawrence) and Harvey Townsend; both wives; and daughter, Faye Dawn Andrews on May 18, 2005.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, at United Presbyterian Church in Rockford, Minn., with Pastor Rick Newswanger officiating. Burial will be 2 p.m. at Fort Snelling Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers and will be dedicated to the Center Junction Community Park. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
