LITTLE FALLS - Sixth-graders in Morrison County participated in this year's essay contest about how and/or why an older person was special to them. Their story could be about a grandparent, a favorite older relative or a best older friend who was at least 60 years of age.
First-place winners were Kathleen Jopp, a student of Brenda Smith's at the Little Falls Community Middle School; and Ethan Och, a student in Tom Pittman's class at the Swanville Public School.
Second-place winners were Noelle Reuck, a student of Steve Holbrook's at the Pierz Pioneer Elementary School; and Luke Sowada, a student in Kevin Hoskins' class at the Little Falls Community Middle School.
The four winners are invited to read their essays July 16 at the Morrison County Fair on Senior Citizen Day. They also will receive prizes from the Morrison County Council on Aging.
