Brainerd area DFLer inducted into DFL Women's Hall of Fame
Kathy Hegstrom of Brainerd was inducted into the DFL Women's Hall of Fame in a ceremony in St. Paul.
A longtime DFL activist, Hegstrom is a Brainerd High School teacher and is president of the Brainerd unit of Education Minnesota. She has been an election judge for the past 25 years and has recruited young people to serve as election judges. She has served in various capacities for the Crow Wing County DFL, including service on the board.
Hegstrom has attended 16 state conventions and two national conventions. (1984) and (2000). She said she first became active in politics in 1971.
Hegstrom was nominated by Rep. John Ward, DFL-Brainerd.
The selection of Hegstrom as a Woman of Distinction was made by the Women's Summit Committee, sponsors of the DFL Women's Hall of Fame.
