Austin's HR lifts Rebels

FORT RIPLEY -- Ray Austin hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to lift the Fort Ripley Rebels past the Pierz Brewers 6-5 in Victory League amateur baseball Sunday.

The Rebels came out fast and furious, scoring four times in the first. The Brewers battled back and eventually tied the game 4-4 before Austin's home run.

Austin finished 2-for-4. Jim Kramer was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Rebels.

Gerard Kimman had three hits, including two doubles, and drove in two runs for the Brewers. Teammate Alvin Kimman had two hits and two RBI.

Jason Sadlovsky pitched a complete game for Pierz, striking out five and walking three.

Buckman 6, Cuyuna 4

CROSBY -- Brandon Lochner pitched the Buckman Billygoats to a 6-4 win against the Cuyuna Range Miners by striking out seven, giving up four walks and allowing eight hits in seven innings.

Joe Kahl led Billygoats hitters with a 3-for-4 performance, including two doubles. Lochner and Scott Boser each had two hits for Buckman.

Lance Herbst was 2-4 and Matt Finlayson contributed three hits for the Miners.

James Freese pitched a complete game for Cuyuna, striking our four and walking two.

Lastrup 5, St. Mathias 4

ST. MATHIAS -- Dan Saehr singled in Jamie Litke with the winning run in the top of the ninth as the Lastrup Lakers defeated the St. Mathias Devils 5-4 Sunday.

Lakers pitching clamped down after the third as Jason Gross and Reggie Litke combined to hold the Devils scoreless the remainder of the game.

Lastrup's Rick Schlieman had a home run, double, two runs and two RBI. Adam Hardy belted a home run and had three RBI to go along with Jake Francis' two hits and a run for the Devils.
