TROMMALD -- One person was apprehended and one is being sought after a brief chase in Wolford Township Thursday.
The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Department reported about 12:22 p.m. Deputy Steve Merriman met a speeding vehicle on Crow Wing County Road 30 north of Trommald.
A brief chase, with speeds reaching in excess of 80 mph, followed until the driver of the suspect vehicle lost control of his vehicle and went into the ditch near the Wolford Town Hall Road. The driver and a passenger, both 30-year-old men from the Trommald area, fled on foot into the woods. The passenger was apprehended and transported to the Crow Wing County Jail but was later released.
The driver was not found. He has been identified and several charges, including fleeing a police officer, are pending against the individual, Crow Wing County Sheriff's Sgt. Neal Gaalswyk said today.
No one was injured in the chase.
