In Brainerd most observers believe that the census figures are inaccurate by more than four percent. An appeal by the Chamber of Commerce has already uncovered 116 persons who were not counted.

More than 8,000 National Guardsmen from 67 communities around the state were checking into this northern Minnesota military reservation for their annual two-week summer encampment. The men are members of the famed 47th Viking Division.

A monthly payroll increase of over $25,000 was effective at the Brainerd Northern Pacific Shops with announcement that all departments would work six-day weeks and that 85 additional men were being employed.

-- Manager George Ridley has discharged the out-of-town members of the Ironton baseball team and promises to have a new line up within a week.

The crops in Crow Wing County generally will be almost a total failure owing to the unprecedented dry weather which has been experienced here this spring.
