MINNEAPOLIS - Staples-Motley's Jordan Peterson kept his hopes alive to place in the Class 1A state singles tournament Thursday at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center.
Peterson lost his first-round match 6-3, 6-4 to John Hill of St. Paul Academy and Summit School.
The Cardinals' senior defeated Joey Kronzer of Duluth Marshall 6-0, 6-4 to advance to the consolation finals. Peterson will play George Humphrey of Blake at 8 a.m. Friday.
The consolation championship match is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center.
