Bluegrass/gospel concert planned

NISSWA - Churchyard from Crosby will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Living Savior Lutheran Church, the first in a series of four bluegrass/gospel concerts at the church, located three and a half miles west of Schaefer's corner on County Road 77. Bring a chair if you can.

For those interested for a small charge prior to the concert, brats and pop will be served from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

The Kings Countrymen to perform

MALMO - Malmo Free Church will present The Kings Countrymen at 7 p.m. Saturday.

The Kings Countrymen is a bluegrass gospel group from central Wisconsin. The group was formed in August of 1994 by Lorn and Kristi Schultz of Mondovi, Wis. They perform at county fairs, festivals, nursing homes, retirement centers and churches in the Midwest and beyond.

Members include Lorn Schultz, singing lead and playing rhythm guitar; Kristi Schultz, sound technician; George Cordwell, vocals and upright bass; Rosalie Johnson, fiddle and vocals; Dan Cavanaugh, banjo and vocals; and Jim Williams as product manager.

Malmo Church is located near the junction of Highways 47 and 18 on Highway 18 near the northeast corner of Lake Mille Lacs.

Lakes Area Parish Nurse meeting

The Lakes Area Parish Nurse meeting will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Good Samaritan Society-Woodland, 200 Buffalo Hills Lane, Brainerd. Call Joy at 855-6639 for questions.

Summer worship hours

BAXTER - Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church will continue its Sunday 9 a.m. service during the summer with Bible study after worship. In addition there will also be an identical Monday night service at 6 p.m. during June, July and August. The church is located on the corner of Ingelwood and Cherrywood Drive, just north of Highway 210 in Baxter. For service information and Bible study schedules visit www.christbaxter.com.

Union Congregational UCC to host brunch and forum

HACKENSACK - Union Congregational UCC will host a brunch and forum on June 20 in the Friendship Hall following the morning worship service at about 10:30 a.m.

Deep Portage Executive Director Dale Yerger and Assistant Director Molly Malecek will present a program about the learning center located on Big Deep Lake in Cass County. Deep Portage is a non-profit, residential environmental education/outdoor recreation center. Open to the public, it is a place where community, education and the environment come together.

A brunch will be served at about 10:15 a.m. prepared by Carole Grieggs and her kitchen crew. Yerger and Malecek will follow with a presentation and an opportunity for questions/answers. The program is free and open to the community. Attendees may attend the brunch for a small donation or come for just the program. Union UCC church is located on Lake Avenue in Hackensack.

'Mona Talks'

WADENA - "Mona Talks" is a series of meetings hosted by Mona LaValley Ministries from Clitherall and members of local area churches to be held at 7 p.m. every Tuesday from June 15 to July 27 at Burlington Northern Park in Wadena.

The meetings will feature a time of praise and worship, special music, sharing Biblical truths and a time of prayer for our country and individual needs.

Topics of discussion will center around "What's Happening in America?" and "What Does the Bible Have to Say About It?"

Summer breakfast and raffle

LITTLE FALLS - St. Mary's Catholic Church in Little Falls will have its summer breakfast and raffle from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday in the church basement. Tickets are $6 each; 4-12 year olds, $3; 3 and under free. The raffle drawing will being at noon.

Special invitation to sing 'HU'

A special invitation top join people of all faiths and discover how singing "HU," an ancient name for God, can open the heart to God's love. This community HU song is offered by Eckankar as a gift to all who love God from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Brainerd Public Library, 416 5th St., Brainerd. Call (651) 283-8663 for more information.

Garage sale planned at Living Savior

LAKE SHORE - Living Savior Lutheran Church, 8327 Interlachen Road, will host its annual garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. June 18 and from 8 a.m. to noon June 19. Sale items include clothing, household, books, games, toys, etc. Hot coffee will be available. There will also be a plant sale including hostas.

Directions to the church: Turn onto Hwy. 77 by Schaefer's Foods. Go past Bar Harbor.

Second part of garage sale planned

PEQUOT LAKES - St. Alice Catholic Church, Pequot Lakes, will hold the second part of its 24th annual garage sale from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. This will be the bag sale. Those interested can purchase a 13-gallon bag for $4 and fill it to capacity with remains from the sale last weekend.

Brainerd Laestadian Lutheran Church

The Brainerd Laestadian Lutheran Church will have a guest speaker, Steven Kallinen, from Menahga, for this Sunday's worship services. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. with a noon meal served at the church.
