Lightning blank Bulldogs

PIERZ - Aaron Jenkins went 2-for-2 with a two-run homer to spark the Lakes Area Lightning to an 8-0 victory over the Pierz Bulldogs in an amateur baseball exhibition game Sunday.

Jenkins' home run put the Lightning ahead 2-0 in the fourth. Bronson Shepherd went 3-4 with two RBIs.

Mark Germain pitched five innings to get the win. He gave up two hits, struck out six and walked four.

Reliever Dan Nichols pitched three innings, and recorded eight ground-ball outs. Dave Berndgen pitched a scoreless ninth.
