Mark Bublitz, son of Mark and Jill Bublitz, Brainerd, Matthew Logering, son of Dean and Toni Logering, Merrifield, Matthew Schmitz, son of Peter and Gudrun Schmitz, John C. Benson, son of Charles and Mary Benson, and Luke Furda, son of James and Julie Furda, all of Brainerd, have graduated from St. John's University. Bublitz received a bachelor of arts degree in German and management, Logering received a bachelor of arts degree in individualized management, Schmitz received a bachelor of arts degree in biology, Benson received a bachelor of arts degree in peace studies, magna cum laude, and Furda received a bachelor of arts in English.
Michael Goebel, son of Debbie Mead and Erv Goebel, Brainerd, has been accepted in the law enforcement program at Alexandria Technical College.
The Nisswa Women's Club awarded $1,200 scholarships to Ashley Hillstrom and Garret Wedan, Brainerd High School, and Sarah Stone and Philip Machbar, Pequot Lakes High School.
The organization also awarded three $1,000 scholarships to non-traditional students at Central Lakes College. Recipients are Tabatha Hansen, Sandra Youngblom and Tamara Rayburn.
Nathan Greenwalt, Brainerd, received a bachelor of science in business administration and youth ministry and a minor in Bible studies from Northwest College in St. Paul.
David Hanson, son of Jim and Beth Hanson, Baxter, was named recipient of a $1,500 Maverick Scholarship from Minnesota State University-Mankato for the 2007-2008 academic school year.
Darin Underhill, son of Fred and Lynn Underhill, Brainerd, Connor Butenhoff, son of Chuck and Terry Butenhoff, Aitkin, have announced their decision to enroll at Concordia College, Moorhead.
Taylor Sheflo, Merrifield, was admitted to Concordia University for fall semester. He has been awarded a President's Scholarship to attend the university.
Matthew Bartella, son of Rick and Shelley Bartella, Nisswa, Joshua Ellens, son of Paul Ellens and Jennifer Kiffmeyer, Garrison, and Kate Hendrickson, daughter of Michael and Nathalja Hendrickson, Baxter, have been awarded renewable grants from Concordia College, Moorhead.
Dino Musielewicz, son of Bob and Pam Musielewicz, Baxter, and Steve Johnson, son of Charles and Susan Johnson, Brainerd, have been awarded Excellence Scholarships from Concordia College in Moorhead. Johnson also was awarded a theater scholarship.
Megan Augustinack, daughter of Steve "Gus" and Ginger Augustinack, Kayla Helmberger, daughter of Kirk and Sheila Helmberger, and Corey Nelson, son of JoAnn Veith, Baxter, have all been awarded Faculty Scholarships from Concordia College in Moorhead.
Mid-Minnesota Builders Association of Crow Wing, Wadena and lower Cass counties, awarded four $1,000 scholarships to Jacob Melhorn, Pine River-Backus, Blake Smith, Brainerd, Cody Hummer, Lake Shore, and Justin Semmler, Baxter. Melhorn plans to attend St. Cloud Technical College and major in carpentry, Smith plans to attend North Dakota State University and major in engineering, Hummer will attend North Dakota State University and major in architecture and Semmler will attend Minnesota State Community and Technical College of Wadena and major in carpentry.
Pinchat Chatpaitoon, daughter of Darvnee and Banjong Chatpaitoon, Udon Thani, Thailand, was named to the spring semester dean's list at Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. She is a 2006 graduate of Central Lakes College and is a junior at the university majoring in accounting.
Rianna Kelash, daughter of Glenys Warner-Holman, Baxter, and Ashley Drake, daughter of the late Criston and Cheryl Drake, Brainerd, were named to the spring semester dean's list at Hamline University's College of Liberal Arts.
Michael Bottorff II, Kelsey Herwig, Lise Holte, Alicia Niemi and Samuel Walker, all 2007 graduates of Brainerd High School, were awarded $4,500 Marshall H. and Nellie Alworth Memorial Scholarships. The scholarships are renewable for up to five years and go to students who have demonstrated outstanding scholastic ability and plan to major in the sciences or mathematics.

Amanda Johnson, Pillager, won a Student Organizational Award at the Senior Awards Convocation Ceremony at the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth. She is involved in the College of St. Scholastica news.
