Pete Hiltner of Brainerd and Jake Wagner of Staples-Motley will play for the outstate team which will meet the metro squad 7 p.m. June 25 in the Minnesota High School All-Star Football Game at St. Cloud State University.
Hiltner is a 6-foot-6, 315-pound offensive lineman. Wagner is a 5-10, 215-pound running back.
Meschke, Hasselberg all-state golf teams
Val Meschke of Pequot Lakes and Cydney Hasselberg of Staples-Motley were named to the Class 1A all-state girls' golf team.
Two Blue Thunder players drafted
The Brainerd Blue Thunder of the Northwoods League had two players selected in the first 10 rounds of the 2005 Major League Baseball draft.
In the fourth round the Cincinnati Reds used the 122nd overall pick to draft right-handed pitcher Sam Lecure of the University of Texas.
In the 10th round, the San Diego Padres used the 308th pick overall to draft center fielder Josh Alley from the University of Tennessee. Alley has yet to report to Brainerd because of Tennessee's participation in the NCAA super regionals.
Youth watercraft course offered
Youths ages 12 to 17 need a youth watercraft operator's permit to operate a boat with a 25-horsepower or bigger motor or a personal watercraft without an adult present.
Youths may earn this permit by successfully completing a one-day course offered by the DNR at Mission Park from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 28.
Laws and safety regulations are covered in the morning. Lunch is provided. On-the-water training takes place in the afternoon. The course is open to youths ages 11 to 17. Youths who turn 11 this summer may take the course and get their certificate after turning 12. Participants are asked to bring a life jacket.

Thompson ninth, Sweet 10th in main event
ALEXANDRIA -- Tom Thompson of Brainerd finished ninth and Rick Sweet of Brainerd was 10th in the Tri Star Late Model Challenge Series race at Viking Speedway on Wednesday.
Thompson qualified for the main event with a third-place finish in his heat race. Sweet was second in his heat.
Terrell Thompson was fifth in his qualifying heat and fourth in the B feature. Dan Yaunick was sixth in his heat and seventh in his B feature.
The Viking Speedway will present its regularly scheduled program 6 p.m. Saturday.
Three area golfers to play in MGA event
BIWABIK -- Three lakes area golfers are scheduled to compete in the MGA Senior Players Championship Tuesday through Thursday at the Quarry at Giants Ridge Golf and Ski Resort.
Rollie Penfield and Glen Hasselberg, both of the Vintage at Staples, and Jack Sieberlich of Pierz are scheduled to compete in the sixth annual event.
Scores will be available at the conclusion of play each day at www.mngolf.org.
