AITKIN -- Matt Tibbetts, 64, of Aitkin, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Riverwood Extended Care, Aitkin. He was born Aug. 8, 1940, in Detroit Lakes to Vernon C. and Kathryn C. (Graves) Tibbetts. He graduated from Aitkin High School. He was a lineman for Aitkin Public Utilities and owned Tibbetts House Moving. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Aitkin. Matt supported the Women's Shelter of Brainerd, lived by the principles of A.A. for 25 years and brought A.A. to people in jail. He will be remembered for being generous with his time and talents.
He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory; brother, Ronnie; and his father, Vernon. Matt is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Gina (Jon) LaFlamme of El Mirage, Ariz.; son, Jeff Tibbetts, of Parker, Colo; eight grandchildren, Matthew, Zachery, Canaan and Zoe LaFlamme and Trista, Amanda, Kayla and Jeffrey Tibbetts; mother, Kathryn Kalberg, of Aitkin; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Mike (Kathy), of Aitkin, Dick (Marva), of Forest Lake, Steve, of Minneapolis; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cyndi Camarco, of Apache Junction, and Mary (David) Massey, of Sachse, Texas; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2005, at St. James Catholic Church, Aitkin. Father Robert Monaghan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service starting at 7 p.m. at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home, Aitkin.
