Darlyne Larson and Sharon Simons decided to make their own Cabbage Patch dolls when they couldn't find any to buy for Christmas gifts. The Crosby women successfully made the dolls and had so much fun doing so, they went a step further and started a class in making the dolls.
30 years ago (1974)
One-hundred-and-twenty-four students will be granted associate of arts degrees and two will be given an associate in general studies degrees by Brainerd Community College during the commencement services, June 13 at 8 p.m.
40 years ago (1964)
Brainerd will gain about 200 jobs and one million dollars in annual payroll, if the Interstate Commerce Commission approves merger of the Great Northern, Northern Pacific Burlington and Spokane, Portland and Seattle railroads.
60 years ago (1944)
The OPA today boosted the price of milk in Brainerd from 12 cents to 12.5 cents per quart it was pointed out that persons buying one quart of milk would pay 13 cents and would pay 25 cents for two quarts.
80 years ago (1924)
Dr. Roy H. William, of Brainerd, won the amateur trapshooting championship of Minnesota at the state tournament here, breaking 195 out of a possible 200. He also had a high run of 121.
100 years ago (1904)
