RANDALL -- Hilda C. Wendland, 94, Randall, died Sunday, June 9, 2002, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls.
She was born Dec. 8, 1907, in Baggs, Wyo., to Hans and Emma (Arp) Klinker. As a child, she moved with her parents to Trosky. She attended school in Verdi. She married Arno Wendland on May 12, 1926, in Sleepy Eye. They farmed near Sleepy Eye and in 1929 moved to Randall. They later moved to Park Township in Morrison County where they farmed until 1949 when they moved into Randall. They owned and operated the Randall Pool Hall until they retired. She worked several years at Gosh's Grocery Store and at Magee's Grocery Store in Randall. She became a Lutheran Care Center resident in Little Falls on Jan. 8. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Randall and the ladies aid.
Survivors include five daughters, Alrene Brastad, Minneapolis, Dolores Johnson and Joan Olson, both of Randall, Lois Meyer, New Richmond, Wis., Donna Zintek, St. Cloud; a brother, Fred Klinker, Finland; a sister, Minnie Riebel, Sleepy Eye; 26 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 31 great-great-grandchildren.
Her husband, who died in 1987, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren died earlier.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Randall with the Rev. Martin Langemo officiating. Burial will be in the Randall City Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls and from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the church in Randall. Prayer services will be 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral chapel.
