BLAINE -- Kerry Herdegen of Little Falls jumped 43 feet, 7 inches to claim seventh place in the Class AA boys' triple jump Saturday afternoon at the National Sports Center.
Herdegen was hoping to place in the top six, but was pleased with his final jump, which was just short of a personal best.
"I think it was a good showing," Herdegen said. "It was a good way for me to end the year."
Pat Akpaette of Richfield set a Class AA and Minnesota state meet all-time record in the event with his jump of 49 feet.
Herdegen was the sole state qualifier from Little Falls.
Brainerd's Mike Weiss finished his final day of state competition Saturday with a toss of 138-10 in the discus. Weiss finished ninth, earning all-state honors. Weiss had competed at the state meet in the two previous years, however this was his first year the throwing events.
Karl Erickson of Rochester Century won the discus with a mark 180-01.
