Open Forum: Why was there no mention of D-Day?
As a World War II veteran's wife, I am surprised that there was no mention in the Brainerd Dispatch this morning (June 6) that today is D-Day. We should never forget this important day in our history. My husband was in the landing at Normandy on June 6, 1944, the first day of the invasion. He was also in the Battle of the Bulge...actually your paper interviewed him several years ago for an article on this subject. He served in five campaigns of this war eventually being shipped to the South Pacific awaiting the invasion of Japan which never materialized due to the dropping of the Atom Bomb.
Officials are dumb
