STAPLES -- "Seeking the Sun," a summer solstice pageant will be presented 6:30 p.m. June 17 at Living Legacy Gardens in Staples; 6:30 p.m. June 18 at Sunnybrook Park in Wadena; and 2 p.m. June 20 at Old Wadena County Park. Admission is free. The story follows a wanderer through several vignettes as he searches the world, meeting animals and people and collecting seeds and stories.
Lamplighter Theatre to hold 'Jungle Book' auditions
STAPLES -- Lamplighter Community Theatre will hold auditions for the summer production of "The Jungle Book" from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Centennial Auditorium in Staples or by appointment with director Kevin Olsen; call (218) 894-2640.
Speaking and non-speaking parts for children and adults are available. The musical is based on stories by Rudyard Kipling but it is not a Disney version. Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. July 21, 23 and 24 at Centennial Auditorium.
'Milford Mine Disaster' book back in print
CROSBY -- "The Milford Mine Disaster: A Cuyuna Range Tragedy" by Berger Aulie has been reprinted and is available from the Cuyuna Country Heritage Preservation Society (CCHPS) for $19.95. The 1994 book, chronicling a 1924 mining disaster that killed 41 at Milford Lake, had been out of print.
