IRONTON -- Sarah "Doot" Elaine Rood, 71, Ironton, died Monday, June 9, 2003, at home.
She was born May 14, 1932, in Aitkin to Percy and Myrtle (Reem) O'Neil. She married Irven O. Rood on June 6, 1952, in Robbinsdale. She graduated from Aitkin High School in 1949. She owned the White House Resort and Restaurant on Borden Lake and Doots Diner in Deerwood. She was a member of the VFW No. 1816 Auxiliary. She also was a member of the Women for Fishing, Hunting and Wildlife for seven years.
Survivors include her husband, Irven; two sons, Kenneth Rood, Aitkin, and Douglas Rood, Garrison; three daughters, Cindy Fischer, Brainerd, Shelly Watson, Deerwood, and Jodi Calkins, Deerwood; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, William O'Neil, Isanti; and two sisters, Lila Leger, Deerwood, and Peggy Palm, Brainerd.
Her parents; a daughter, Tracy Zontelli; and two brothers, Vernon and Roger O'Neil, died earlier.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood with the Rev. Wane Souhrada officiating. Burial will be in Bennettville Cemetery in Bennettville.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby and an hour before services Friday at the church.
