Lum Park Beach will open Saturday.

Lifeguards will be on duty from 1 to 7 p.m. every day during the summer.

Openings still remain for swimming lessons. The first session begins June 19, and the second session begins July 10. Register at the Brainerd Parks and Recreation office.

Century Farms to be recognized

The Crow Wing County Fair and Minnesota State Fair's Century Farm Program will recognize families who have owned their farms for at least 100 years at noon Thursday, Aug. 10, which is Ag Day at the Crow Wing County Fairgrounds.

To be eligible for the award, the farm must be at least 100 years old according to authentic land records, the farm must have been in continuous family ownership for at least 100 years (continuous residence on the farm is not required), and the farm must be at least 50 acres.

The names of all Century Farm families will be displayed at the Minnesota Farm Bureau exhibit during the 2000 State Fair.
